Sustainable source of energy

23-02-2024

We are constantly improving not only our equipment and production technology, but also other processes. Since 2017, we have been sourcing sustainably produced electricity from renewable sources, and from the end of 2023 onwards, we will be generating it ourselves, having completed a project to install a 500 kW solar power plant on the roof of the company.

“Today, both individual consumers and businesses are becoming more aware of environmental and sustainability issues and expect their partners to do the same. Many people are already actively looking for products and services produced and provided using green energy,” says CEO Mantas Krugelis. “More and more companies are investing in green technologies to stay competitive. An important step towards sustainability was the introduction of PVC-free lug caps, which use thermoplastic materials (TPE) instead of PVC and the softener it requires, resulting in a migration of particles from the hermetic material into the product that is well below the permissible limit. Producing our own green energy is an important next step in conserving resources and reducing environmental pollution.”

“In 2023, our solar power plant has managed to produce 55 MWh of electricity, which would be equivalent to 648 trees planted or 21.7 tonnes of CO2 emissions avoided,” says Edvardas Vysockis, Head of Maintenance, delighted with the results of the first months of operation. “We expect our solar power plant to generate around 490 MWh of electricity this year, which will represent around 10-12% of the company’s annual demand. This is equivalent to 5,733 trees planted or 191.9 tonnes of CO2 emissions avoided.”
